
Whether you want to create professional images of your own garden, snap Instagram-worthy shots with your iPhone, or learn the best ways to showcase your garden design business or home garden, this one-day workshop with award-winning garden photographer Jason Ingram, will cover everything you need to know about how to photograph gardens.
Using techniques developed through 25 years of professional success, Jason Ingram will teach you how to understand light, stabilise photos and skilfully edit images that truly showcase the essence of any garden.
The day will start with an inspirational and informative illustrated talk from Jason who will share the many techniques he uses - from choosing your subject to framing and composing your photographs to mastering and maximising light conditions - guiding you to create sensational photographs of your own.
The rest of the day will be hands-on practical sessions with guidance and feedback from Jason, whilst exploring neighbouring gardens with a wide selection of interesting plants to photograph: the Plant Library and Tom and Sue Stuart-Smith’s The Barn Garden and Prairie.
This workshop is suitable for all skill levels; all materials are provided. Please note, although the photography workshop isn’t weather-dependent; please wear suitable footwear for potential inclement weather.
Students are invited to bring a camera device of any level from a smart phone to a DSLR.
The workshop includes refreshments, a delicious home cooked vegetarian lunch and access to the gardens including The Plant Library of over 2000 perennials and bulbs. There will also be an opportunity to buy copies of Jason Ingram's new book and get them signed.

About Jason Ingram
Jason Ingram is an award-winning garden photographer based in Bristol. He travels widely photographing gardens, plants and people for the UK's leading magazines, and has provided photography for numerous best-selling gardening books by top garden designers. He has been awarded 'Garden Photographer of the Year' by The Garden Media Guild six times, and 'Features Photographer of the Year' twice. For his personal work, Jason has been photographing the landscape and coastline of Britain for over 25 years, and in 2008, he was awarded 'Landscape Photographer of the Year' for the 'Living the View' category. Jason lectures on his work and teaches in-person garden photography courses. His work is held in numerous private collections, and he receives regular commissions from HM The King Charles Ill to photograph his private estate at Highgrove, as well as Piet Oudolf 's garden at Hauser & Wirth gallery in Somerset.

On arrival, please follow signs to the parking at the end of Featherbed Lane. Parking onsite is limited so please car-share or come by public transport wherever possible.
Please note this is a no smoking and no vaping site.
Accessibility
Accessible parking for those who require it is available directly outside The Apple House. There is step-free access to the building and all areas. However, there are many potential trip hazards and uneven surfaces that may be encountered whilst visiting the gardens, along with gravel paths that aren’t suitable for walking frames with wheels. The gardens are extensive so there’s a lot of ground to cover. Please be aware that due to the ongoing building works around the Orchard, there may be additional hazards to look out for.
