Workshops
Naturalistic Flower Arranging Workshop with Aesme Studio
The Apple House, Sergehill Lane, Bedmond, Hertfordshire WD5 0RZ
Thursday 15 October 2026, 10am-4pm

Join us for a day's unique creative workshop in the Apple House and Plant Library to celebrate the publication of 'Naturalistic Flowers' by Aesme Studio.

The day will begin with an inspiring tour of the Plant Library with head gardener Millie Souter followed by a talk and practical demonstration from sisters Ally and Jess of Aesme Studio on arranging garden flowers in a naturalistic way and a presentation on their new book. Particular attention will be paid to thoughtful design, sustainable techniques, reusable mechanics and evoking the essence of the season in an arrangement of flowers.

After a delicious home-cooked vegetarian lunch you will create your own composition using flowers, foliage, seedheads, grasses and fruit gathered from the gardens surrounding the Serge Hill Project and the Aesme cutting garden in Hampshire, with friendly advice and feedback available throughout. All participants will finish the day with a vase packed with beautifully arranged naturalistic flowers and the confidence to make future arrangements.

Further Information

Tickets for this workshop include all floristry materials, access to the gardens, refreshments and a home-cooked vegetarian lunch, using many ingredients sourced from the garden.

Please bring your favourite vase and snips! Signed copies of ‘Naturalistic Flowers’ will be available for purchase on the day.

Profits from this workshop go to fund the work of our not-for-profit, The Serge Hill Project for Gardening Creativity and Health, which provides therapeutic and educational programmes to local schools, charities and community groups most in need.

About Aesme Studio

Aesme Studio was founded in 2015 by sisters Ally and Jess. We are passionate about sharing the meditative process of arranging flowers, the transformative power of working with plants and the joy they bring. As a pair we run the Aesme School of Flowers at our London studio, work collaboratively on event designs, as well as writing, photographing and filming our extensive online learning resources and creating content for the Flowers on Film Club. Strictly seasonal, we grow all of our own flowers using organic methods in our extensively-stocked cutting garden in the Hampshire countryside.
