The Serge Hill Gardens are delighted to host The Plant Fairs Roadshow for the first time in 2025.
As well as independent nurseries of The Plant Fairs Roadshow, The Serge Hill Plant Fair will open up and bring together three iconic, large country gardens a short walk from each other: Tom and Sue Stuart-Smith's The Barn Garden, The Plant Library - a living catalogue of 1500 perennials planted in sand and green-waste with a new eco-barn, The Apple House - and Kate Stuart-Smith's gardens at Serge Hill, which includes a stunning walled garden.
The plant fair will take place in the field in front of Serge Hill, with refreshments being served across the road in The Apple House. Profits from the entrance fee to the Plant Fair will go to The Serge Hill Project for Gardening, Creativity and Health, a new community interest company founded by Tom & Sue Stuart-Smith, based on the understanding that working with nature can radically transform people’s health and wellbeing.

Entry to the site is via Sergehill Lodge. Please approach from Bedmond / Abbots Langley direction only (M25–junction 20, M1–junction 6), and take Sergehill Lane, where you will be directed past the Lodge and about ½ mile down a drive. Parking is in a field next to the Plant Fair.
When leaving the site, we are operating a one-way system, so please follow signs and turn left out of Serge Hill and drive up the lane back towards Bedmond.
Local traffic & minibusses to approach from St Albans / Chiswell Green Lane direction. Minibus and local parking is available at the Tennis Court–What3Words ///sands.smug.light
Please car share wherever possible and be mindful of pedestrians whilst driving around the site.
Train: If arriving by train, the nearest train station is Kings Langley which has a taxi service, Kings Cars, that can be booked in advance by calling 01923 262266. St Albans City Station is slightly further away and has a taxi rank.
Cycle: If you are cycling, there is bike rack on site by The Apple House you can use upon arrival.
Timeslots
Tickets have been allocated in timeslots to manage the flow of traffic and people. Please do not arrive on site more than 10 minutes before your allocated timeslot as it may cause unnecessary delays.
Talks
The Serge Hill Project is hosting talks all about PLANTS with great plant and nursery folk including Derry Watkins, Annie Godfrey, Steve Edney, Millie Souter and Matt Biggs taking place in The Apple House, throughout the day - times and schedule available on arrival.
Accessibility
There is a lot of gravel which makes it hard, but not impossible, to push wheelchairs. Parking is in a field.
Refreshments
There will be a coffee van selling light refreshments outside the Apple House.
Toilets
There are toilets available in The Apple House and by the Overflow Car Park

Your safety is very important to us. While we have taken reasonable precautions across the site, we ask all visitors to: Stay on marked paths and avoid any hazards, be especially careful of moving vehicles as you walk around the site or cross the lanes. Take care around areas of open water and respect areas marked as private.
CHILDREN need to be SUPERVISED at all times.
We are a NO SMOKING and NO VAPING SITE.
Assistance dogs only allowed on site.

The Serge Hill Project and landowners accept no responsibility for loss of or damage to motor vehicles, their contents, or injury to persons visiting the car parks, unless caused directly by proven negligence on our part.

We may be taking photos and video footage during this event to document the event and work of The Serge Hill Project. These may be used for publicity and promotional purposes, including online and in print. If you don’t want to be photographed or filmed, please inform the photographer.
The taking of photographs or video by visitors for commercial use is not permitted without prior written permission. The use of tripods or similar equipment that may obstruct others is also not allowed.
